My father, James Kennedy, passed away on the 22nd, only two weeks after my mother, leading me to believe that it is literally possible to die from a broken heart.
While going through some papers, we ran across the poem, “So you’re Taking My Sunshine Away,” written by Bonnie Wofford to my father when he retired from his position with the State of Arkansas (after already having served 30 years in the Navy). Here’s the last stanza:
For years we see them come and go
And others take their place
It’s sad to think, it’s sad to know
We’ll no longer see your face.
So farewell time is here once more
The sun is getting dim
So here’s a great big thank you
To my friend I’ll remember, Jim.
I thought it quite strange, yet somehow so appropriate that the title of Bonnie’s poem referring to my father and my 7/14/08 blog, “You Are My Sunshine,” referring to my mother were inspired by the same source.
I’ll miss you, Mom and Dad.
On a lighter note, you only have until July 31 to submit your entry in “Guess the Publication Date,II Contest.” Simply leave your guess in the comment section or email me at janekennedysutton@gmail.com. See my 7/18/08 blog for further information.

Sorry to hear of your losses. It's difficult to be sure.
Good luck with your publication. Yes, the cover is eye-catching.
