New Year Resolutions – Revisited

“A New Year's resolution is something that goes in one Year and out the other.” –Anonymous

Here’s another recycled and slightly modified post from last year.

I don’t make New Year resolutions because, well…I hate piling guilt on myself. I’ve had many years to get to know me and I’ve learn that no matter how good my intentions are, I will eventually (say in 5 or 10 minutes) break whatever resolution I make. Since I don’t have any of my own to share, I thought I’d pass along some of the funnier ones I found online at NewYearFestival and BellaOnline.

Just for today, I will not sit in my living room all day in my nightdress. Instead, I will move my computer into the bedroom.

I will no longer waste my time relieving the past, instead I will spend it worrying about the future.

I resolve to work with neglected children—my own.

So many men, so little time. Make more time.

I will remember that life is not about how fast you run, or how high you climb, but how well you bounce.

I will remember the Universe is infinite...so when I lose my keys...NOT a surprise!!

I will try to drive past a gym at least once a week.

I will buy lottery tickets at a luckier store.

I will think of a password other than “password.”

Do you make resolutions? Do you usually keep the ones you’ve made? Have you heard other funny ones you’d like to share?

In the words of Oprah Winfrey, “Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.”
Thanks for stopping by.

Those are good, Jane! I try not to make resolutions but set goals instead. Resolutions are meant to be broken, goals are meant to be achieved!

One saying I've always heard that may not be 'funny' but it's good advice-
Lord grant me the ability to change what I can change, accept what I cannot, and the wisdom to know the difference!"

I love this one: "I will remember that life is not about how fast you run, or how high you climb, but how well you bounce." I may adopt it as my own.

I don't do resolutions because I always break them. I have one or two goals, but know that if I say them aloud, I'll not keep them. I'm ornery that way.

I do have resolutions, but I make them very small so I can have a success early in the year!

Thanks for the links for the funny ones. I like the ones you listed!

Funny Jane! I'm scribbling the keys comment down. My husband will hear this one- say in a few minutes!

Have a great New Year!

I said on someone's blog the other day that I don't make resolutions because I never keep them. This year I'm going to make one . . . I hereby resolve not to make any resolutions this year.

Happy New Year!

I love lots of these! I think my favourite is the one about buying lottery tickets at a luckier store. That is perfect. It has all my neurosis balled up into one perfection!
Here's one for you - I will no longer tell my dog or my partner what they are doing wrong as they clearly don't speak English.

This list of resolutions is very funny, thanks for sharing it.
A funny and yet sad thing I notice every year as I exercise in a pool is that the first week of a new year is crowded with new faces in the pool, and parking spots are full and then the crowd thins out over January.

I like your list. Yes, I think that I will resolve to just "get it right". But without some kind of a list, I won't even try.

Happy New Year.

Good point, Diane, and good advice.

I like that one, too, Helen. I know what you mean about voicing goals.

Another good idea, Elizabeth. I’m sure being successful early in the year acts as an incentive to keep it going.

Tamika, I related to the keys comment, too.

Jan, I’m going to have to add yours to the list for next year – it’s a good one.

I agree, Marvin. I hope we all get it right this year!

Thank you, Nancy. I enjoy your blogs as well.

Terra, we walk in the park and notice the same thing. It’s very busy the first week in January but by the end of the month – not so much. By mid-February, we’re almost alone.

Happy New Year to you all and thank you for your comments and support.

I love this post! I actually broke my permanent and steadfast resolution of previous years (not having a resolution) and actually decided to have a few. *gasp* I'm thinking of adding to that list with one you posted: To work with neglected child(ren)- my own. ;)

Happy New Year!

I normally have daily or weekly goals. 2010 will be my first full year goal since...I can't remember ever doing something like this. It will be an adventure. :)

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Jane!

I'm not making a specific resolution... Just want to finish this book!

No resolutons for me, thank you very much. I just need to do what I do a little bit smarter, a little bit better, and a little bit faster.

Buying lottery tickets at a luckier store made me laugh. Where is that store?

Happy New Year Jane!
